90th anniversary of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) — Speech by General Secretary Oscar Figuera

Communist Party of Venezuela's 90th anniversary celebrated

Under the slogan "History belongs to us", the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), the political vanguard of the Venezuelan working class, commemorated its 90th anniversary on Friday 5 March 2021. 
 
The Party was founded in Caracas on 5 March 1931 as a clandestine organization during the repressive military dictatorship of Juan Vicente Gomez. The foundation of the PCV emerged as a historical necessity, for the organization and guidance of the working people's struggle in Venezuela

Joint Statement: Slander and threats against the Communist Party of Venezuela are unacceptable

More than 40 Communist and Workers' Parties sign a joint statement denouncing the attempt by Venezuela's governing party PSUV and President Maduro to politically marginalize and undermine the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV).

"President Maduro, the real dilemma is whether you are with the working class or with the capitalists" — PCV Statement

In a very interesting statement published on Tribuna Popular, the Political Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) refers to some critical issues concerning the political direction and stance of Nicolas Maduro's social democratic government.

With foundations in its ideological, political and organisational autonomy and independence, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) is committed to confronting US-European imperialist aggression. It is also committed to confronting the economic, labour and agricultural policies which President Nicolas Maduro has been applying in favour of Capital and landowners.

Venezuela Elections 2020: The Communist Party (PCV) is back in the National Assembly!

The parliamentary election in Venezuela is over, the people voted and the Communist Party (PCV) is back in National Assembly! Despite facing censorship and blockade by the media, the electoral alliance “Popular Revolutionary Alternative” (APR), backed by the PCV and other political groups, received 2.75% of the votes.

The Communist Party will be represented in the National Assembly by its General Secretary Oscar Figuera who has been elected a deputy.

With a low turnout of 30.5% of eligible voters, Nicolas Maduro's social democratic United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and its allies swept the December 6th parliamentary elections and regained control of the National Assembly. According to the National Electoral Council, the PSUV-lead “Great Patriotic Pole” alliance has gained 68% of the votes and is projected to win at least 189 of the 277-seat assembly.

Letter of the KKE to the National Electoral Council of Venezuela: On the anti-democratic censorship against PCV and APR

In a letter addressed to the President of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela Indira Alfonso, the member of the Political Bureau of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and MP Giorgos Marinos denounces the exclusion of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) and the Popular Revolutionary Alternative (APR) electoral coalition from public and private media coverage ahead of the December 6th parliamentary elections.

Venezuela's Communist Party denounces censorship ahead of the December 6th parliamentary election

In a statement addressed to the Communist and Workers' Parties of the world, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) denounces the censorship that has been imposed upon the Party's electoral campaign, ahead of the December 6th parliamentary election. As the PCV points out, the communicational blockade against the Party was intensified following the decision to create the Popular Revolutionary Alternative (APR) together with other political and social organizations".

Venezuela's Communist Party slams reformist "Plataforma de la Clase Obrera Antiimperialista (PCOA)"

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) has issued a statement concerning the initiative called "Platform of the Anti-imperialist Working Class" (PCOA). Read the statement in english and spanish below:

"Together with class conscious trade unionism, the PCV will participate in initiatives of unity of anti-imperialist action.

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), as the party of the working class and the Venezuelan working people, clarifies its position regarding Venezuela's launch of a supposed Platform of the Anti-imperialist Working Class (PCOA), which lacks the presence of class conscious trade union organizations from our country or representatives of national historical labor currents.

International Communist Review held teleconference on Venezuela: Speech by PCV General Secretary Oscar Figuera

On the 9th of October, the International Communist Review (ICR) successfully organized a teleconference in solidarity with the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), the working class and the people of Venezuela. 
 
The teleconference was attended by representatives of the following parties-members of the ICR: Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Communist Workers Party of Spain (PCTE), Socialist Party of Latvia, Communist Party of Mexico (PCM), Hungarian Workers 'Party, Union of Communists of Ukraine, Communist Workers' Party of Russia Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV). 

The participant parties adopted a resolution expressing their solidarity with the PCV and the Venezuelan people.

Venezuela: The Communist Party denounces the illegal dismissal of trade unionist by state company

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) publically denounces the unjustified and illegal dismissal of the local leader and worker of the state-owned CVG Carbonorca company, Sergio Requena, who is also a candidate for the Popular Revolutionary Alternative (APR) to the National Assembly in circuit 2 of Bolivar State. 

From the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), we join the voices of solidarity and support that come in floods from within the Venezuelan labour and popular movement to condemn the unfair and illegal dismissal to which the Comrade Sergio Requena, national coordinator of the Productive Workers' Army (EPO), are being subjected to by CVG Carbonorca, a state-owned company located in Guayana City, Bolivar State, where you are Workplace Director by decision and democratic election of workers.

On the political situation in Venezuela: Letter by the Communist Party (PCV)

In a letter addressed to the fraternal Communist and Workers' Parties of the world, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) describes the major issues concerning the current political, economic and social situation in Venezuela.

It must be noted that in August, the Communist Party of Venezuela along with other parties and political groups formed an anti-imperialist alliance under the name "Popular Revolutionary Alternative" (Alternativa Popular Revolucionaria- APR).

Alternativa Popular Revolucionaria: Venezuela's new anti-imperialist and socialist alliance

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), alongside seven other left and socialist-oriented political organizations, announced the formation of an anti-imperialist and socialist alliance under the name "Popular Revolutionary Alternative" (Alternative Popular Revolucionaria- APR). 

The communique for the formation of APR reads:

With a great effort of collective political construction, the below signed organisations have constituted the Popular Revolutionary Alternative (APR), an anti-imperialist and truly socialist alliance which points towards offering a new left-wing reference point for Venezuelans.

KKE condemns the new intervention attempt by mercenaries against Venezuela

In a statement the International Relations Section of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) condemns the new infiltration attempt by mercenaries against Venezuela

More specifically the statement, which was published in 902 portal, reads:

“The KKE condemns the new intervention attempt in Venezuela by paramilitary group of mercenaries based in Colombia whose aim, according to the statements of the paramilitry group's leader in social media, was to cause sabotages and murder members of the Venezuelan government. The group of mercenaries-murderers was countered by Venezuela’s security forces.

Venezuela: STOP the persecution of communist trade unionists!

On February 17th, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) and the National Front of Working Class Struggle (FNLCT) issued a statement denouncing the acts of aggression, repression and police harassment against communist trade unionists in the oil industry. 

More specifically, trade unionists Dolores Herrera and Gustavo Yánez, members of the Oil workers union “Jesús Faría” (CCT-CV), were attacked in their own house by an armed group, being violently evicted and deprived of their personal belongings.

On Wednesday 13 November a group of hooded thugs entered the premises of the Bolivarian University in Caracas during the elections of the students council that was taking place.  The unknown men cowardly attacked members of the Communist Youth of Venezuela (Juventud Comunista de Venezuela), including José Daniel Ramos member of its National Directorate and a candidate for the students' council.

Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV): What is going on in the Amazon isn’t fire; its capitalism

The Politbureau of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) in its weekly press conference held August 26 declared its position regarding the serious situation which affects the Brazilian Amazonian region
With respect, the Secretary for International Relations of the Central Committee of the PCV, Carolus Wimmer, said: "The PCV warns that what is going on in the Amazon isn’t fire, its capitalism. There is a wave of information which is looking to hide the truth of the problem. The consequence of the expansion of the interests of the transnational firms in our region has naturally not only caused the exploitation of the workers and misery and hunger for the popular masses, but also the destruction of the environment."

European Communist Initiative: Solidarity with the people & the CP of Venezuela

Statement of the Secretariat of the Initiative of Communist and Workers' Parties of Europe in solidarity with Venezuelan people and the CP of Venezuela.

The Secretariat of the Initiative condemns the coup d'etat of the USA, their allied governments and of the Organization of American States (OAS) for the overthrow of the elected President Nicolas Maduro and for the support of the leader of the reactionary forces Juan Guaidó, who proclaimed himself president of the country with their support.

This coup d'etat is a continuation of the planned longterm campaign of destabilization of the country to promote the imperialist designs in the Latin America region and to overthrow governments that are not likable to the USA-NATO and the EU, with the latter intervening in the domestic affairs of Venezuela, supporting the reactionary forces and participating the the scheme to overthrow the elected government.

Venezuelan communist and campesino activist Luis Fajardo assassinated in Mérida

In a press release issued yesterday by the Political Bureau and signed by the General Secretary Oscar Figuera, the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) announced the assassination of the Party's Central Committee member Luis Fajardo. 

According to the statement, Fajardo was with his brother-in-law, Javier Aldana, making their way home on a motorbike, when they were killed by a burst of gunfire from a moving car. 

The incident took place in Las Palmas, at the Nueva Bolivia municipality of the state of Mérida. 

The PCV added that the Party held landowners, as well as corrupt members of the National Guardsmen and politicians, responsible for the crime, while demanding from the government to carry out a thorough investigation on Fajardo's assassination.
