Biz hazırız! Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) to mark its 99th anniversary on September 10

Biz hazırız! (We are ready!). Under this slogan, the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) leaves 99 years behind to reach its centennial on September 10.

According to soL portal, this week Boyun Egme ("Do not surrender"), the weekly publication of the party, explains that socialism is contemporary and TKP’s claim to establish an egalitarian social order is realizable.

As declared in the official website of the party, TKP says the party is ready for the struggle of a socialist revolution with the high organizational capacity of workers, intellectuals, and young people.

Statement by the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) after Istanbul's mayoral re-elections

The Communist Party of Turkey's statement came after the June 23 redo local elections in Istanbul as Ekrem Imamoglu, the mayoral candidate of the opposition, won the polls by a wide margin against his rival, Binali Yıldırım, from the ruling party:

The overwhelming victory of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was elected as the Mayor of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality on March 31, against Binali Yıldırım, the candidate of AKP and MHP, in the elections that were unlawfully annulled and repeated does not only mean the invalidation of an attempt to usurp universal suffrage but also has dramatically changed the political balances in Turkey.

Istanbul mayoral re-election: The stance of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP)

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality elections were unlawfully annuled and are going to be repeated on June 23. The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a statement and clarified its position. 

As early as the announcement of the annulment decision, the Party had declared that Ekrem İmamoğlu had been elected as the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and that the TKP candidate for the March 31 elections, Zehra Güner Karaoğlu, would not be nominated again for any repeated elections.

Istanbul election re-run: Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) slams Erdogan's decision

In a statement the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) calls the people of boycott the election re-run for Istanbul Metropolitian Municipality. Read the full statement below: 

"Supreme Election Council's (YSK) decision means taking away people's right to vote!

YSK announced its decision. To be more precise, Erdogan's decision to cancel the Istanbul elections, which were completed on March 31, is now echoed by the YSK. The fact that the decision is now made does not change that it is unlawful and unreasonable.

"Hope is flourishing in Turkey": TKP reflects on the results of local elections

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a statement after the local elections, declaring that the party will not allow the two-party system that started to be considered as the normal in Turkey today. 

TKP stated that despite the system seems to be a two-party system in the elections and despite all the difficulties, pressures and restrictions, Turkey's communists have increased their votes radically.

Maçoğlu was previously the mayor of Ovacık, Dersim. During his term of office, he was already known as the ‘communist mayor’.

Turkish communists on New Zealand massacre: "Racism and capitalism will be defeated"

Regarding the massacre in Christchurch, New Zealand, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued, on March 16th, the following statement:
Yesterday there had been a brutal massacre killing 49 people in New Zealand.  It became clear by his messages that, the assailant had been in a sick hatred and he been preparing for the attack beforehand.
This increasing racism, anti-immigrant hatred and as witnessed in the last incident, a fascist delusion all around the world, is the reflection of capitalism's deadlock.

Massive election rally in Istanbul organized by the Communist Party of Turkey

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) held a promising election rally in Istanbul's Kartal on Sunday, March 10, soL news portal reports. 

Thousands of people gathered in Kartal Square for the rally of the TKP participating in the elections chanting the slogans "If money has its reign, working people have their Communist Party" and "We are not in the same boat".

"I'm a woman and a communist": TKP's mayoral candidates for Turkey's largest cities

Three women, fighters in both life and the political arena, are the mayoral candidates of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) in the country's largest cities - Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.

TKP's candidates will be running for mayorships of 81 cities and 85 districts throughout Turkey in the upcoming local elections on March 31st.

Communist Party of Turkey: Flag-bearer of egalitarianism, freedom and patriotism

Turkey's local elections will be held on March, 31. According to the announcement of Turkey's Supreme Electoral Council, 13 parties, including the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), are eligible to participate in the local polls, through which metropolitan and district municipal mayors, as well as provincial and municipal councilors, will be elected in all 81 provinces of Turkey

The electoral process officially began on January 1 and the electoral strategies, as well as the candidates, of the parties participating in the elections have been the most discussed issue in Turkey's political atmosphere since then.

Turkish and Cuban communists honored the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

Together with the José Martí Cuba Friendship Association, a member of ICAP (Instituto Cubano de Amistad con los Pueblos), the Communist Party of Turkey organized a solidarity week with socialist Cuba and hosted a delegation of five, including representatives of the Communist Party of Cuba, the Cuban Parliament and ICAP. 

Responding to the call of TKP, thousands of friends of Cuba gathered in a series of events organized from the 25th of November to the 1st of December in three major cities of Turkey; Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir.

In Istanbul, under the title "Great Humanity is 60 years old", a large solidarity event was attended by hundreds of people, including representatives from the Communist Parties of Cuba (PCC) and Turkey (TKP).

On the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the 1917 Great October Socialist Revolution, soL news portal interviewed Kemal Okuyan, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP):

On the 7th of November, 101st anniversary of the October Revolution will be celebrated. Is there anything left to celebrate?

USSR has been collapsed, that is, the country that is founded on the basis of the Revolution now does not exist. From that point of view, it might be thought that there is nothing to be celebrated, however, the Revolution is the greatest event of the 20th century whose remains cannot be wiped off from the earth and which still continues to inspire those who are oppressed all around the world. Today, in Russia, various rock bands are playing songs saying 'Towards New Octobers".

Turkish workers establish solidarity network against the crisis and the capitalists

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has inaugurated the solidarity, struggle and communication network of workers against the crisis and the capitalists, soL news portal reports. 

In its appeal, “the TKP will welcome those who wish to have access to this network at its buildings, clubhouses and representative agencies,” the party said. 

“We will join our forces. We will not bow down to the bosses. We will clamp down on the exploiters. Those who suppose that workers are all alone should know that we will breathe down bosses’ neck.”

Turkish communist leader Kemal Okuyan talks about the economic crisis

Kemal Okuyan, Secretary General of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), elaborated on the ongoing economic crisis for soL news portal

Okuyan highlighted that crises are inevitable under capitalism, and that they result in further monopolization as well as the reallocation of funds from toiling masses to capital. 

Emphasizing that expecting the crisis to lead Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan or his AKP government to a political stalemate would be too optimistic, Okuyan pointed out that the political outcomes of the crisis would be determined by the struggle of the working class.

On September 10th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a statement regarding the 98th anniversary since the foundation of the "oldest and youngest party" of the country:

"We will not content ourselves with something less than what is possible. Even though some claim that it is “impossible”, socialism is the only possible future in Turkey and the world.

Turkey's currency crisis: "Our country has become the playground of international monopolies" says the Communist Party

The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has released a statement on the current currency crisis in Turkey, declaring that Turkey "has become the playground of international monopolies, companies and banks". 

The full statement issued by the TKP is the following:

Our country has become the playground of international monopolies, companies and banks, the names of which we cannot even pronounce correctly.
