Communist Party of Venezuela mourns the death of Perfecto Abreu Nieves - Messages of condolences

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) reported on Tuesday the death of its honorary president and veteran leader Perfecto Abreu Nieves, aged 80. 

 

In a statement released on the social network X, the PCV said that Nieves died after more than seven decades in the service of the struggles of the working people and the Venezuelan peasantry.

 

"From a very young age, Perfecto Abreu Nieves embraced the cause of the working class. At the age of 15 he learned of the DIGEPOL prison, where he began in the revolutionary struggle, committing since then to the ideals of Socialism and to the firm defense of the rights of the people", the PCV statement notes adding:

"His entire life was an example of loyalty, discipline, and dedication to the communist cause, contributing decisively to the construction and strengthening of the Communist Party of Venezuela."

Condolence message following the loss of comrade Perfecto Abreu Nieves, President of the Communist Party of Venezuela 

The KKE expresses its heartfelt condolences to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) for the loss of comrade Perfecto Abreu Nieves.

Comrade Perfecto was a dedicated member of the PCV for over 50 years. In 1962, at the age of 15, he was imprisoned by the social democratic government of Acción Democrática, who were pursuing his father, an agricultural unionist. It was here that he was initiated into the revolutionary struggle and Marxism-Leninism, and joined the ranks of the PCV. He subsequently joined the Communist Party of Venezuela's armed struggle and, in the 1970s, lived in the People's Republic of Bulgaria. Over the following decades, he held numerous important positions within the Central Committee and Political Bureau of the PCV. For many years, he served as Organisational Secretary of the Political Bureau. He was honorarily elected President of the Communist Party of Venezuela at the 16th Congress of the Party in 2022. Comrade Perfecto remained loyal to the Communist Party of Venezuela until the end of his life, vigorously defending its ideological, political and organisational independence.

Our party had the honour of hosting Comrade Perfecto in Greece in 2005 and engaging in extensive discussions with him.

"The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Mexico lowers its red flags bearing the hammer and sickle in memory of Comrade Perfecto Abreu Nieves, President of the Central Committee of the glorious Communist Party of Venezuela, who recently passed away. Comrade Perfecto Abreu Nieves was a proletarian revolutionary, a Marxist-Leninist, and for many years—during the most difficult years—he served as the organizing secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela. It was precisely in recognition of his contributions to the struggle that the PCV elected him as its President in recent years", a statement by the PCM stresses out.

The Communist Party of Mexico adds among others:

Comrade Perfecto, as President, along with Comrade Figuera, General Secretary, and the entire Central Committee, spearheaded the defense of the Communist Party of Venezuela in recent years against the state-sponsored attack by the government and its party—a reactionary attack. This defense of the PCV is a defense of the prospect of a revolutionary process in Venezuela, led by the workers, for the overthrow of capitalism and exploitation.
