Latin American Communist Parties denounce US imperialist aggression against Venezuela

Several Communist Parties from Latin America strongly condemn the escalation of aggression by the US Trump administration against Venezuela:

The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV), through its member Neirlay Andrade, condemned on Monday 12 August both the recent interventionist threats by the United States government against Venezuela, as well as the intensification of repression against the popular movement and the revolutionary left in the country.

Regarding the US announcement to increase rewards for information on senior leaders of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the PCV categorically rejected "these interventionist maneuvers that do nothing to resolve the acute political crisis our country is experiencing" and warned that such measures are in addition to "the criminal sanctions that have only worsened the living conditions of the working people."

"US imperialism continues to act as the world's policeman, preparing the ground for interventions that have already had disastrous consequences in Latin America and other regions," Andrade stated, calling on the Venezuelan people "not to believe in siren songs" or trust that foreign interference can restore the rule of law in the country.

The Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) also warned that these announcements from Washington are being used as justification for the "repressive offensive of Nicolás Maduro's administration against the popular, working-class, and revolutionary movement."

Communist Party of Mexico (PCM): We condemn the US military presence on the coasts of Venezuela

The Communist Party of Mexico condemns the military threat of US imperialism against the people of Venezuela. Under the guise of combating drug trafficking, the US has deployed three destroyers and more than 4,000 troops to the coasts of Venezuela.

The close ties between the United States and its agencies, such as the CIA and the DEA, and drug trafficking groups are widely documented, as evidenced by the Iran-Contra scandal. This is also the paramilitary and counterinsurgency use of its "war on drugs" strategy. Its current use is a pretext to escalate imperialist aggression against Venezuela, with a view to securing control of Venezuelan oil fields and combating the positioning of Chinese and Russian capital in the region.

We denounce this interventionist maneuver, as well as any attempt at imperialist intervention in Venezuela. We express our solidarity with the Venezuelan people and working class, who must independently decide their future, as well as our solidarity with the Communist Party of Venezuela, which is fighting under difficult conditions for Venezuela's sovereignty and the concrete and historic rights and objectives of the working class.

Brazilian Communist Party (PCB): Against US military intervention in Latin America!

Using the justification of combating international drug trafficking, Donald Trump ordered a major operation involving the deployment of US military forces to the Caribbean Sea, comprising approximately 4,000 soldiers, submarines, warships, and reconnaissance aircraft. The measure was announced by the US government with the stated objective of "combating drug cartels in Latin America."

The operation occurs amid tensions with Venezuela, whose president, Nicolás Maduro, is accused by Washington of having ties to drug trafficking. A $50 million reward is being offered for information leading to the capture of the Venezuelan head of state. This is a baseless accusation, intended only to justify threats and potential interventionist measures against Venezuela.

The military action takes place against a backdrop of the Trump administration's political and economic offensive against Brazil, manifested in the imposition of exorbitant tariffs on Brazilian exports to the US, threats against national authorities, blackmail, and pressure on the Supreme Court to acquit Bolsonaro, among other measures.

The United States has always considered Latin America the backyard of its imperialist interests and believes it has the right to dictate how countries that present any kind of contradiction with imperialism should be governed. This must be denounced and condemned by all who defend the self-determination of their peoples.

The Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) resolutely repudiates any and all interventionist attempts by US imperialism in Venezuela or any other Latin American and Caribbean countries targeted by this action promoted by the Trump administration.

Communist Party of Chile (PCC): We reject the US military escalation in the region

In a statement, the Communist Party of Chile rejects the deployment of three naval destroyers, a nuclear submarine, aircraft, a missile ship, and 4,500 marines to the Caribbean under the pretext of an "anti-drug operation."

This deployment actually responds to Washington's geopolitical objective of bringing about a change of government in Venezuela through military force, not excluding threats against Cuba, which has been subjected for decades to a criminal blockade, the statement denounces.

The decision comes after President Donald Trump's decree sending troops to foreign territories and mounting a campaign to destabilize Venezuela under the pretext of combating drug trafficking.

The PCC also warns about statements by the head of the Southern Command, Admiral Alvin Hosley, who recently threatened the relations of Latin American countries with China.

At the same time, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavit affirmed that the United States is prepared to "use all its power."

For the Communist Party, Trump's actions return to the so-called Monroe Doctrine and its "America for Americans" postulate, which from its formulation considered our region a "backyard" of its imperial control.

The political organization points out that the harsh history of the region is plagued by imperialist coups carried out under various pretexts, but with a common goal, now unknown to everyone, and in the face of which there is no room for neutrality or indifference.

"To combat drug trafficking and organized crime, there is multilateral collaboration between states, not interventionism," it warns.

The PCC reiterates its call for the defense of democracy, peace, non-intervention, and respect for national sovereignty.
