A protest rally of the Communist Initiative of Cyprus (CIC) was held on Friday afternoon (27/6/2025) outside the US Embassy in Nicosia, denouncing the role of the United States, NATO and Israel in the ongoing imperialist wars and expressing their solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Dozens of members and friends of the Initiative, including members of the KKE Party Organization in Cyprus, participated in the rally, shouting slogans such as “Freedom in Palestine”, “NATO out, close the bases, no participation in the interventions” and “Imperialism is not invincible”.

In his speech, the Executive Secretary of the CIC, Christos Kourtellaris, denounced the hypocritical “imperialist truce” announced by the US, which should not cast “ashes in the eyes of the peoples”, clarifying that “we are further strengthening the struggle to end the imperialist wars that have not stopped and against the murderous state of Israel, which is nurtured by American imperialism” and that “we will continue to strengthen our voice and our internationalist action, in solidarity with the peoples who are fighting for freedom, whose role model is the heroic people of Palestine, who continue to be massacred by Netanyahu’s fascist hordes”.
He noted that “In the past few days and whatever the rulers say, our people have found themselves closer than ever to the target of the military conflicts between Israel, Iran and the USA, hence the various publications about the local shelters and the increased operational readiness of the police and the army.”
He condemned the stance of the Cypriot government which at every opportunity tries to serve and accommodate the USA, Great Britain, NATO who planned the dismemberment of Cyprus and that “the same is naturally done by the murderous state of Israel at the behest of the bourgeoisie of our country, part of which, in sectors that are affected, has seen its profits multiply from the continuous military raids against our neighboring peoples.”

Let us strengthen our struggle and demand, first and foremost, the termination of all cooperation of the Cypriot government with the murderous state of Israel, economic, military, diplomatic. Let us demand the immediate disengagement of Cyprus from imperialist plans and military agreements with the US-NATO-EU. Let us fight for the dismantling of all foreign military bases on the Island, but also for liberation from the imperialist European Union of monopolies, which strangles the people, caresses the aggressor and whips the victim!"
