Poland's right-wing government honors WW2 Nazi collaborators

Polish officials and members of far-right groups attended the
event in Warsaw.
It has become a tradition for the bourgeois governments in the Baltic countries and Poland to pay tribute to various militant groups which collaborated with the Nazis in the Second World War.

This time, it was the turn for the right-wing government of the ruling "Law and Justice" party in Poland to honor the veterans of the so-called "Holy Cross Mountains Brigade", an underground force that collaborated with Nazi German forces against the communists towards the end of the war.

As the Associated Press reported from Warsaw, the pro-Nazi veterans "were honored during a mass for their sacrifices to the fatherland". President Andrej Duda and the state managed to offer their official patronage to the event, underlining the Polish government's rehabilitation of Nazi collaborators.

The official rehabilitation of the anti-communist, nazi-collaborationist brigade began when Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki honored its members at a Munich cemetery in February 2018.

The shameful event in Warsaw were criticized by the children of Polish resistance fighters, while a protest was held, with banners writing "No to collaboration!" and "Collaborating with the enemy is treason".

It must be noted that the rehibalitation of the collaborators of the Nazis by the Polish government goes hand by hand with the strengthening of anti-communist measures by the state, including numerous persecutions against the Communist Party of Poland
