The World Federation of Trade Unions (Federación Sindical Mundial- WFTU) and the World Peace Council (Consejo Mundial de la Paz) have issued statements condemning the US-backed reactionary coup in Venezuela and the attempt to overthrow the government of Nicolas Maduro.

WFTU condemns intervention against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela
The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), representing 95 million workers of the five continents as well as the world class-oriented labor movement, strongly rejects the attempted coup d’état against the legitimate government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
This interference, orchestrated by the US government, NATO and the EU and executed by the representatives of the transnationals and monopolies in the country, constitutes a flagrant violation of the most elementary rules of international law and of the Venezuela’s sovereignty. For the WFTU, it is an inalienable right of each people to decide for themselves, without outside interventions, on their present and future.
At the same time, the WFTU reaffirms, as it has already done on several occasions, its solidarity with the Venezuelan people, with the working class and our affiliated organizations in the country in front of this imperialist threat. In addition, we call on the Venezuelan people to reject the maneuvers of the imperialists and their lackeys in the region, to condemn the plans of the murderers of the peoples. We will continue to support the Venezuelan working class, for the deepening of the Bolivarian process, until the abolition of man by man exploitation, towards a new world, without wars and imperialist barbarism. This is the only way forward to repel the plans of the imperialists.

La Federación Sindical Mundial (FSM), en representación de 95 millones de trabajadores en los cinco continentes y del movimiento obrero sindical clasista mundial, rechaza de la manera más rotunda la tentativa de golpe de Estado contra el gobierno legítimo de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela.
Dicha injerencia, orquestada por el gobierno estadounidense, la OTAN y la UE y ejecutada por los portavoces de las transnacionales y los monopolios en el país, constituye una violación flagrante de las reglas más elementales del derecho internacional y de la soberanía de Venezuela. Para la FSM, es un derecho inalienable de cada pueblo la capacidad de decidir por sí mismo, sin intervenciones ajenas, sobre su presente y futuro.
Asimismo, la FSM reitera, como ya lo ha hecho en varias ocasiones, su solidaridad con el pueblo venezolano, con la clase obrera y nuestras organizaciones afiliadas en el país ante esta amenaza imperialista. Además, llamamos al pueblo venezolano a rechazar las maniobras de los imperialistas y sus lacayos en la región, contra los planes de los asesinos de los pueblos. Seguiremos apoyando a la clase obrera venezolana, por la profundización del proceso bolivariano, hasta la abolición de la explotación del hombre por el hombre, rumbo a un mundo nuevo, sin guerras y barbarie imperialista. Este es el único camino a seguir para repeler los planes de los imperialistas.

The World Peace Council (WPC) expresses its categorical and vehement condemnation of the attempt to overthrow the legitimately elected government and President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro. The coordinated efforts by the reactionary local oligarchy together with the US administration, the European Union (EU), the Organisation of American States (OAS) and several Latin American governments consitute a clear effort of open intervention in the domestic affairs of the country. The self-proclaimed “Interim President”-puppet Juan Guaido and the developments around it, represent a dangerous escalation in the imperialist plans of the USA, EU and NATO in the region.
We express our solidarity with the people of Venezuela, its anti-imperialist peace loving forces, particularly to our Member Organisation COSI (Comite de Solidaridad Internacional), in their struggle to defend their fatherland, to deepen the achievements for the benefit of the vast majority of the people, against imperialist inervention and exploitation.

El Consejo Mundial de la Paz (CMP), expresa su categórica y vehemente condena del intento de derrocar al gobierno legítimamente elegido y al presidente de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela Nicolás Maduro.
Los esfuerzos coordinados de la oligarquía local reaccionaria junto con la administración de los Estados Unidos, la Unión Europea, la Organización de Estados Americanos y varios gobiernos de América Latina constituye un claro esfuerzo de intervención abierta en los asuntos internos del país. El auto-proclamado “Presidente interino”, el títere Juan Guaido y los acontecimientos a su alrededor, representan una peligrosa escalada en los planes imperialistas de los Estados Unidos, la UE y la OTAN en la región.
Expresamos nuestra solidaridad con el pueblo de Venezuela, sus fuerzas de paz antiimperialista, en particular a nuestra organización miembro COSI (Comité de Solidaridad Internacional), en su lucha por defender a su patria, para profundizar los logros en beneficio de la gran mayoría de las personas, contra la intervención imperialista y la explotación.
