Ludlow Massacre's martyr, labor unionist Louis Tikas, to be honored in Colorado

104 years since his murder the legendary Greek American labor unionist and a leading figure of the 1913-1914 Colorado coal strike, Louis Tikas, will be honored in the United States. More specifically, according to kalami.us website, a statue of Tikas will be unveiled during a ceremony in Trinidad, Colorado on June 23, 2018.

Joint declaration by the Communist Parties of Greece (KKE) and Turkey (TKP)

On the occasion of the International Workers' Day, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a joint statement in which they "address warm militant greetings to the working class, to the people of both countries", calling them to strengthen the "common struggle against the bourgeois governments and the antipeople policy, the capital and its power, to massively condemn the imperialist wars and to develop the struggle for the overthrow of the capitalist barbarity, for socialism which is the people's future".

What will Greek Communists do in case of a war?

The recent escalation of Turkish government's aggressiveness, within the framework of the broader sharpening of the intra-imperialist competitions in the region, gave the opportunity to far-right and fascist circles to propagandize their known nationalist “wet dreams”. An integral part of the nationalist, far-right propaganda was always the stance of the KKE (Greek Communist Party) in case of a war between Greece and Turkey.

Recycling their unhistorical, repulsive anticommunist theory about the supposed “traitorous KKE”, various fascists across Greece's political spectrum- including, of course, the criminals of the Nazi Golden Dawn- began spreading blatant lies and vulgarities.

“In case of Greece's engagement in a war with another country, the KKE has ordered its members to avoid fighting” was the title of a text which, a few days ago, had been republished in various bourgeois, far-right and not, news sites. Of course, this is a known tactic for the political descendants of Maniadakis [1], who are masters in throwing mud against the KKE in order to vilify the Party and the Communists.

KKE: The danger of the imperialist war and the stance of the Communists

Theses of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) at the 12th International Conference "V.I.Lenin and the Contemporary World".

The inter-imperialist contradictions, which in the past led to dozens of local, regional wars and to two World Wars, continue to lead to tough economic, political and military confrontations, irrespective of the composition or recomposition, the changes in the structure and the framework of goals of the international imperialist unions, their so-called new "architecture". In any case, "war is the continuation of politics by other means", especially in the conditions of a deep crisis of capital's over-accumulation and important changes in the correlation of forces of the international imperialist system, in which the re-division of the markets rarely occurs without bloodshed.

On the morning of April 19, a historic date on which not only is the first defeat of Yankee imperialism in the Americas commemorated, but Cuba also sees the inauguration of a new government that makes evident the continuity of the new generations with the legacy of the historic generation that founded the Cuban Revolution in the highest leadership positions of the country, compañero Miguel Mario Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, offered his first speech as President of the Councils of State and of Ministers of Cuba.

He began by recognizing the leadership of Army General Raúl Castro, the candidate for deputy to have received the most votes in the recent general elections; as well as the Comandantes of the Revolution, “who on being in this room offer us the opportunity to embrace history,” he noted.
He also referred to the “dark attempts to destroy us” of those who have not been able to destroy “our faith.”

TKP statement on Turkey's early elections: "We hold our salvation in our own hands"

Following the call by President Rejep Tayyip Erdogan to hold early elections on June 24th, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) issued a statement:

"Turkey is experiencing a political gridlock which binds both the ruling party and opposition parties. This gridlock cannot be eliminated with early elections as suggested by Erdoğan and his partner Bahçeli.
For at the root of this gridlock, there lies the Turkish economy that has come to an almost complete standstill; there lies the Turkish foreign policy which tosses and turns restlessly within the imperialist world; there lies internal policies which fail to go to the root of the problem but fiddle with fake solutions; there lies the fact that large masses are condemned to despair and helplessness; there lies this social order that persistently creates poverty, unemployment, injustice and tyranny.

Harry Truman: A War Criminal in the center of Athens

Two days ago, Greek police forces, following orders of the SYRIZA-ANEL government, brutally assaulted anti-war demonstrators when they tried to bring down the statue of U.S. President Harry Truman. This 3.2-meter statue - “a fossil of the bloodstained american imperialism”, as the KKE called it in a statement- has been in the center of the Greek capital since 1963.

The recent events give us the opportunity to remember who Harry Truman really was. A representative of U.S. imperialism, Truman was the perpetrator of the most horrendous war crime of the previous century. We refer to the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945.
