Nikos Mottas: Che Guevara is today more alive than ever before (VIDEO)

On October 8, 2022, in the fully-packed Studio New Art Cinema in Athens, in presence of Dr. Aleida Guevara March who traveled especially from Havana to attend the event, numerous friends of Cuba in Greece commemorated the 55th anniversary of Ernesto Che Guevara's assassination in Bolivia (read Cuban Embassy's report here). 
 
Among the speakers was Nikos Mottas, editor-in-chief of "In Defense of Communism", author of the book "Che Guevara, Ambassador of the Revolution" (2021), whose greeting speech is presented below:

Greece's trade union movement prepares for massive nationwide strike on November 9

With big, massive meetings, representing hundreds of Unions the class unions of Greece prepare the National General Strike of November 9 and honored the WFTU International Action Day.

In Athens at the Sporting Arena, which was decorated with the banners of PAME, the trade unions and the WFTU, and with the central banner of the event giving the slogan “No waiting, no tolerance, everyone to the general strike on 9 November”, welcomed hundreds of trade union delegations from all sectors.

KKE General Secretary Koutsoumbas: "Greece must be immediately disengaged from the imperialist war"

The General Secretary of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, proceeded today in a comment concerning the dangerous developments in the imperialist war in Ukraine

The comment of General Secretary Koutsoumbas reads:

“The developments on the front of the imperialist war in Ukraine mark the intensity of the confrontation with incalculable dangers for the peoples. Not only for the people of Ukraine and Russia who are at the center of this conflict, but also for the people of the entire world who are already paying the heavy cost of expensiveness and energy poverty. 

Statement of the KKE on the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia

Following the announcement of the annexation of Ukrainian territories by the Russian Federation, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued the following statement (here in Greek):

"The annexation of the Ukrainian territories of Kherson, Zaporizhia, Lugansk and Donetsk by Russia, announced by President Putin following the completion of the referendums in these regions, adds more “fuel to the fire”.

Dimitris Koutsoumbas' speech: "With the KKE, for the great, the beautiful and utterly amazing, for Socialism!"

The events of the 48th Festival of KNE-Odigitis in Athens were successfully completed on Saturday 24 September. The huge “Antonis Tritsis” Park proved too small to host the tens of thousands of people and youth that participated inthe events. 
 
The Festival culminated with the keynote speech of the GS of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), Dimitris Koutsoumbas, preceded by an address by the Secretary of the CC of KNE, Nikos Ambatielos.

Massive crowds at the Festival of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE) in Athens

The 48th Festival of the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), known as KNE-Odigitis Festival, was successfully concluded on Saturday night at the fully-packed Athens' Tritsis Park following a large, awe-inspiring political event where the keynote speaker was Dimitris Koutsoumbas, the General Secretary of the CC of the KKE. The opening speech at the event was delivered by Nikos Abatielos, Secretary of the CC of KNE.


Thousands of communists, workers, people of every age, men and women, attended the event thus sending a powerful message of unwavering struggle alongside the KKE, against capitalist exploitation and imperialist wars, for socialism.

The 48th KNE-Odigitis Festival kicked off in Athens

The 48th KNE-Odigitis Festival, the annual festival organized by the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), kicked off on Thursday at Tritsis Park, Athens. 
 
Thousands of people of every age, from every corner of Athens but also from other cities, attended the events of the first day which included music concerts, political discussions, stand up comedy and other activities.

Statement of the KKE on Putin's address — Заявление КПГ по обращению Путина

Following the public address of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on Wednesday 21 September, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) issued a statement, underlining the escalation of the imperialist conflict and demanding Greece's immediate disengagement from the dangerous plans of EU and NATO. 

The statement reads:

The imperialist war being waged in Ukraine between the Euro-Atlantic forces and capitalist Russia is heading for a new devastating escalation. It is confirmed that the build-up of military forces and materiel on both sides does not lead to the end of the war, but instead feeds the vicious circle of the continuation and intensification of the conflict.

KKE on Erdogan's provocations: NATO, US and EU fuel Turkish aggression

In a statement concerning the provocative statements of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in the United Nations, the Press Office of the CC of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out:

“Erdogan's delirium at the UN General Assembly, where he presented the entire range of claims by the Turkish ruling class against Greece and Cyprus, cannot be interpreted as a pre-electoral tactic, nor as a product of Turkey's alleged isolation.

KKE bids farewell to iconic actress Irene Pappas

In a statement issued today, the Press Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) bids farewell to the iconic Greek actress Irene Pappas who died at the age of 96 in Athens. 
 
With a career spanning more than half a century, Pappas starred in over 70 films, including  award-winning films as "The Guns of Navarone" and "Zorba the Greek".

Communist actor, former KKE MP Kostas Kazakos dies

Prominent Greek actor and director with a career that spans 60 years, Kostas Kazakos, died today in Athens aged 87.

Having studied at the famous Karolos Koun Drama School, he made his stage debut in 1957 and then collaborated with many stage groups. He participated in numerous Greek films.

He stood against the military dictatorship that was imposed in 1967 and was imprisoned in 1973, just a year before the Junta's fall.

Thousands joined PAME rally in Thessaloniki, sending powerful message to Mitsotakis' government

Thousands of workers, self-employed people, farmers, pensioners, young men and women participated on Saturday evening in a massive rally organized by the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) and Trade Unions on the occasion of the inauguration of the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Under the slogan "Organization and Struggle for contemporary rights" a large number of protesters from the city of Thessaloniki as well as from other regions of northern Greece sent a militant message to New Democracy (ND) conservative government.

Greece: The KKE at the side of workers and students

On 8/9, a delegation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) was once again at the side of the striking workers of “Malamatina”, a large wine production company in Thessaloniki, who continue their multi-day struggle. The delegation of the KKE conveyed the message that the KKE will continue to support their just struggle with all its might.

The strikers demand the revocation of 15 dismissals and the signing of a Collective Labour Agreement.

Ho Chi Minh's bust to be erected in Greece

A bust in honor of the Vietnamese communist revolutionary and statesman Ho Chi Minh will be erected in the northern Greek town of Edessa, Greece's Foreign Minister announced on Monday during an official visit in Hanoi.

Following a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son, Greek Minister Nikos Dendias wrote on Twitter: “President Ho Chi Minh, the founder of Vietnam, fought on the Macedonian Front in the period ‘16-'17 serving in the French army. We, therefore, agreed that a bust of him should be erected in Edessa to highlight this fact”.

Greek soldier punished because he publicly expressed anti-NATO views

A soldier of the National Militia Battalion in the Greek island of Rhodes was punished by his unit because he expressed views against NATO, USA and the EU, 902 portal reported. More specifically, the soldier published a letter in which he opposes Greece's participation in the dangerous US-NATO imperialist plans and the country's involvement in the Ukraine war.

In a statement, the Solidarity Committee for the Rights of the Conscripts strongly denounces the decision to punish the soldier, underlines the responsibility of the Government and especially the Ministry of Defence and calls for the immediate revocation of the sentence.

Quadripartite meeting of Communist Parties of Greece, Spain, Mexico and Turkey to be held in Athens

A quadripartite meeting between the Communist Parties of Greece (KKE), Workers of Spain (PCTE), Mexico (PCM) and Turkey (TKP) is going to be held on Friday 8 July in Athens. 

The theme of the meeting, which will take place at the KKE Party headquarters in Perissos, is "We strengthen the workers-people's struggle against the imperialist war and capital's attack, for socialism". According to Rizospastis, all the four parties will be represented by their heads. More specifically, the participant comrades are:

KKE condemns the bomb attack at CPI(M) headquarters

On June 1st, unidentified cowards attacked the Kerala state committee headquarters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Thiruvananthapuram. Police said the explosive substance was hurled at the AKG Centre, situated in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram, by a motorbike-borne man at around 11.30 pm.

In a statement the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemned the bomb attack and expressed confidence that “the state government will investigate thoroughly and punish the culprits.

The 48th KNE Festival to be held on 22-24 September in Athens

Under the slogan “The new generation with KKE for the big, the beautiful, the sensational” (N. Beloyannis)- Socialism, the answer in the 21st century”, the central events of the 48th festival of the Communist Youth of Greece, commonly known as KNE-Odigitis Festival, will take place on 22-24 September in Athens. This year's slogan is inspired by Greek communist hero, Nikos Beloyannis, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his execution.

The festival, which is traveling in many Greek cities and towns throughout July and August, includes numerous political as well as cultural events.

Kostas Sarantidis, aka Nguyễn Văn Lập: A beacon of internationalist solidarity

In an emotional event held in Athens on Wednesday 22 June, friends and comrades of the legendary "Greek Viet Minch" Kostas Sarantidis, also known as Nguyễn Văn Lập,  honored his memory and legacy, on the occasion of his first death anniversary. The event took place at Studio New Star Art Cinema in central Athens and was attended, among others, by the Ambassadors of Vietnam, Cuba, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines.
