The Palestinian people between Zionism and Hamas

By Nikos Mottas

In these critical hours, the only right side of history is one: With the suffering people of Palestine!

With the civilians, children, women and all those who have become the target of the barbaric Israeli military raid in Gaza. With all those who, for 75 years, have been refugees in their own land, trapped and packed in a few square miles.

Any support, direct or indirect, to the Israeli state and its imperialist, genocidal policy constitutes complicity in the ongoing crime against the Palestinian people.

Those who chose to side with the Israeli government of butcher Benjamin Netanyahu and its Euro-Atlantic allies will be harshly judged by the – merciless but always fair – History.

History will be just as strict towards those who turn a blind eye to the Islamists of Hamas, who act as a Trojan Horse of the bourgeois classes of Iran, Turkey and Qatar in the land of Palestine. Hamas is the same group of extremists that fought furiously against against the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and which has hitherto sabotaged any attempt for the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

The truth is the following: Neither the Israeli government nor Hamas want the peaceful coexistence of the two peoples, Palestinians and Israelis, Muslims and Jews.

Their fervent wish is to destroy each other. That's why they are turning Gaza into an endless graveyard.

Between Scylla and Charybdis, Zionism and Jihad, stands the Palestinian people who see their children crushed under the ruins of Gaza. The people who bleed and murdered on the alter of the imperialist conflict centered on the Middle East.

I'm fully aware that by writing these lines, I'll create even more enemies. Some comrades may feel disappointed. But, we, as marxists-leninists, have the moral obligation to say the plain truth, without illusions.

Now, there is one demand that must be heard all over the world: Israel's barbaric attack on Gaza must stop here and now!

The only hope for peace lies in the complete withdrawal of Israeli military forces from the occupied territories, the dismantling of settlements, the return of the Palestinian refugees to the ancestral homes and the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
