In a statement issued today regarding the massive mobilizations in France and the brutal repression from the side of Emmanuel Macron's government, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) points out the following:
"The KKE expresses its solidarity with the mass mobilizations of workers, students, and other popular forces over the last weeks in France, against the policy of expensive fuels and their heavy taxation.
This is only a part of the harsh class anti-people policy of the "visionary" Macron- close partner of the SYRIZA-ANEL government- and consist the latest version of the so-called EU reforms that are being applied across Europe. It is revealed that whoever is the manager of an economy that has a strategy of serving the capital, with the criterion being the capitalist profit, promotes harsh anti-worker measures even in the name of "green economy".
The KKE condemns the violent crackdown, the police state against the demonstrators, the containment of trade unionist activity and of the people's freedoms as a whole, by the Macron government.
The French people, the people of Europe, are today able to draw conclusions. The working class, the people, in every country, can strengthen the anti-capitalist, anti-monopoly orientation of their struggle and with their social alliance can overcome governmental maneuvers, as well as the forces which attempt to channel the popular discontent into, harmless for the capitalist system, temporary relief. They [the people] must isolate mechanisms that feed the snake's egg and provide ground for all kinds of provocations and slanders against the movement.
The process for the regrouping and emancipation of the labour movement, the strengthening of the degree of the workers' organization in trade unions, the invigoration of their class orientation, consist a guarantee that the voice of workers and other popular strata can be strengthened and deal with any kind of distortion and deformation len of the exploitative system, thus paving the way for the struggle for power and economy that serves their own interests".
